Larry and Carol Higgins
Larry has Irish blood and is a fan of the University of Michigan. He keeps retiring from the work force with former careers in the ministry, social work, and the navy. He loves to treat guests to sunset cruises on Portage Lake, take them fishing, or join them for a round of golf. He is happy to officiate for small weddings on site. He has great stories to tell about the native Americans from this area and how the place was named.
Carol's not very Irish but loves the green team from Michigan State. Her former career was as a middle school science teacher. She still loves to teach and will help guests learn how to kayak, use a GPS unit for geo-caching, or send guests home with herbs from the garden and directions on how to use them. She has developed some unique bike routes from "home base" that tour a local winery, a covered bridge, or rural cemeteries.
Larry and Carol have six grown children, four of whom are married. They are also blessed with six, grandchildren. They sing with the Vicksburg Village Singers and Mendon Showboat, volunteer with the bookstore and as ushers at church, are activists for peace and the environment, and belong to River Country Tourism and the Southwest Michigan Bed and Breakfast Association.
